A Melbourne home and living retailer rebuilt its storefront and checkout on a decoupled ecommerce architecture. Mobile conversion nearly doubled in the first sale season after launch.
Aurora & Co. is a Melbourne home and living retailer that ran its online store on an ageing template site. During sale periods the site stalled, mobile checkout abandoned most carts, and the team could not tell which marketing spend produced orders.
The project ran as a progressive replatform rather than a rewrite, so the store kept trading through the build. The storefront moved to a decoupled architecture that separates presentation from transactions, letting the marketing team update the homepage and campaign pages without developer time.
Checkout was compressed from five steps to three, with address autocomplete and local payment options including Afterpay instalments.
Standardised event tracking now covers the funnel from browse to payment and feeds a live dashboard.
An integration with the showroom ERP keeps stock aligned with the physical stores, ending the overselling complaints.
In the first full sale season after launch, mobile conversion rose 92% against the pre-replatform baseline and overall bounce rate fell 38%. Average load time from homepage to checkout held under 1.5 seconds.
The team can now see which ads bring higher-quality orders and which product pages need work, instead of guessing.
Stock-related complaints to the service team largely stopped once the ERP integration went live.
